Frisco is an affluent suburb of Dallas, part of the thriving DFW Metroplex. It’s home to FC Dallas, a semi-professional soccer team that plays in a stadium off the quaint downtown area. Frisco is known as an excellent place to raise children, and its low crime rate makes it a safer place for seniors, as well. There’s plenty to see and do in the Dallas area for history buffs, from Dealy plaza downtown to the Fort Worth Stockyards, which are still in operation today. Many area attractions are close to DART transit lines, allowing those who don’t drive ready access to these and other shopping and dining destinations.
Frisco has hot summers and mild winters with rare snow. While seniors sensitive to high temperatures may be uncomfortable, those who have health conditions alleviated by hot, dry weather may find relief. Seniors make up about 8% of Frisco’s population of 200,000, an age group that will soon need accommodations in an assisted living community.
The average monthly cost of assisted living in Frisco is $4,150, although the costs for each facility can vary.
Note: Data for Frisco was unavailable, so data for the nearest city, Dallas, was used.

Texas residents, including seniors living in Frisco, may be eligible for financial assistance paying for assisted living fees. The program is administered through the Texas Medicaid system, called the STAR+PLUS HCBS program. It’s open to those who are enrolled in Texas Medicaid and receive Social Security Income. Applicants must also verify that they require a nursing home level of care, as well. Recipients don’t have to live in a nursing home. Instead, they may use the waiver monies to pay for home health care and homemaking assistance, or residence in an assisted living community.
