Atria Grapevine

Atria Grapevine is easily accessible to several highways, shopping malls and community centers. Green lawns and oak trees surround the stately building. The large porch area, furnished with tables and rocking chairs, is a relaxing spot where residents and guests visit with one another. Past the secured entrance, the interior is painted in cool blues and pastels.

Residents’ rooms are bright and spacious. Residents often gather around the fish tank in the plush common area. The dining room is a lovely setting of mahogany tables draped in white linen. Residents of the Alzheimer’s unit dine with the assisted living residents. Assigned seating in the dining room provides added stability for residents with dementia. Residents were enjoying Santa Fe fish with vegetables and fruit cobbler during our visit. The staff accommodates residents with sugar-free diets as well. The secured back patio is a popular retreat for bird watching. Plenty of windows bathe the facility in natural light; lamps and sconces add a warm and homey feel. Broad hallways equipped with handrails are decorated with black-and-white photos of cityscapes.

The staff organizes a full day of activities including Bible study, happy hour, tai chi, piano lessons and card games. On Veteran’s Day, residents invited their families for picture taking. We observed residents and staff engaged in many activities together. The residents were entertaining and appeared to be very involved within their community.
