Texas as a whole has assisted living fees several hundred dollars below the national average, which is $4,051, but it’s fairly close to its immediate neighbors, with the exception of New Mexico, which averages $4,100 per month. The other border states of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana are all just a few hundred dollars less per month than Texas.
Round Rock is part of one of the most expensive metro areas in the state for monthly assisted living fees. The Austin area averages $5,395, which is higher even than Dallas, another large Texas city with a higher cost of living and assisted living fees averaging $4,150 per month. San Antonio and Houston, other major metro areas, match the Texas state average of $3,750, as does nearby Kerrville. El Paso, far to the southwest, is one of the least expensive Texas cities at just $2,000 per month.
Seniors in Round Rock who are enrolled in Texas Medicaid and receive Social Security Income may be eligible for an Assisted Living Waiver from the State of Texas: STAR+PLUS HCBS. Besides the other two guidelines, applicants must also demonstrate that they require a nursing home level of care. The Texas Department of Health and Senior Services licenses and regulates assisted living communities in Round Rock, as in all of Texas.
