Costs in neighboring states Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin are lower than they are in Michigan, with Wisconsin being the most expensive of these and Indiana the least.
With an average monthly cost of $5,300, assisted living residents in the Michigan community of Monroe pay an average of $251 more than their counterparts in Ann Arbor. Assisted living costs in other Michigan communities, however, are less. Those living in Flint pay $674 less, while costs are $849 less in Saginaw and Midland. Jackson residents enjoy the state’s lowest cost of assisted living at $3,000 per month, which is $2,049 less than those living in Ann Arbor.
Although Michigan’s Medicaid does not provide financial assistance for room and board costs in assisted living facilities. However, Michigan residents who qualify for the state’s MI Choice Program, some of the costs associated with prescription medication and physical therapy may be covered.
