Maryland Baptist Aged Home is the oldest African-American-owned and -run nursing home in Maryland. It has been providing care for seniors in the state since 1920. The property is located not far from the center of Baltimore, and close to the UMMC Midtown Campus hospital and the University of Maryland Medical Center.
There are 29 beds for nursing home care at the Maryland Baptist Aged Home. Skilled nurses are on-site 24 hours a day, delivering restorative nursing with the goal of seniors being able to return to their own homes and live independently. The facility offers physical, speech and occupational therapy, as well as personal care and other supportive services. Seniors can take advantage of a diverse program of activities designed to support their individual needs, including socials, arts and crafts, music therapy and exercise sessions. Program decisions are made in consultation with a residents council, which has the opportunity to give feedback on life at the facility. Meal service is provided, and all meals are freshly cooked based on a menu created by an on-staff dietician.
