Long term care may simply be help with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, transferring, and more. Skilled nursing offers a higher level of care. Some signs that skilled nursing is needed include (but aren’t limited to) rehabilitation care for joint replacements, respiratory care, terminal illness, stroke recovery, acute medical conditions, rehabilitation due to weakness, interim medical care following a hospital stay, or other conditions.
