Mountain View Assisted Living Financial Assistance

Seniors in Mountain View may qualify for the Assisted Living Waiver to help cover their care costs. This waiver is a provision under Medi-Cal that covers services in Medicaid-approved facilities such as meals, housekeeping, transportation and personal care. Sourcewise (408) 350-3200 Sourcewise provides a broad range of services to those aged 60 and over in the Mountain View area to help them obtain the care they need in assisted living. It administers the statewide HICAP, which offers free health insurance options counseling for seniors. HICAP counselors are trained to answer questions regarding Medicare benefits, Medicare Advantage and Medigap options and long-term care insurance, which may help seniors identify their best options for paying for assisted living. The agency also has information and awareness specialists who connect older adults with community-based services. 
Long-Term Care Ombudsman (408) 944-0567 Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County administers the region’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. Through this program, the organization visits and makes phone calls to assisted living residents in the Mountain View area to prevent isolation, help individuals understand their rights and identify and resolve issues of abuse, neglect or exploitation. The ombudsman can also help seniors and families research local assisted living facilities and identify options for paying for care. Help is available in English, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Punjabi, Hindi and Farsi. 
Mountain View Senior Center (650) 903-6330 The Mountain View Senior Center is open to those aged 55 and over. At this center, members participate in scheduled games and activities, including dances, gentle yoga, knitting classes and age-friendly fitness classes. The center also provides over-the-phone legal assistance through Senior Adult Legal Assistance’s central office, and it has health insurance options counselors who provide free advice and assistance. 
Santa Clara County Office of Veterans Services (408) 918-4980The county’s Office of Veterans Services advocates on behalf of veterans and their families in the Mountain View region. Through this office, veterans get information about community-based services such as transportation, social clubs, health and wellness programs and financial assistance. The office staff screens for eligibility for veterans’ home placement, which may be more affordable than private assisted living services. It also has specialists who help qualifying individuals apply for veterans’ and survivors’ pensions and Aid and Attendance benefits.  
Bay Area Older Adults (408) 774-0593 Bay Area Older Adults is a local nonprofit organization that offers a range of services to those aged 50 and over. Membership is free and entitles individuals to members-only discounts in the community, a free monthly newsletter and free contests. It also hosts the region’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, which helps older adults connect with service opportunities in the community.
