Morris Plains Assisted Living Financial Assistance

The statewide Medicaid Managed Long Term Services and Supports program covers assisted living services for qualifying seniors in Morris Plains. The county’s Office on Aging, Disabilities & Community Programming is the designated Area Agency on Aging for Morris Plains. This nonprofit agency administers a range of programs to promote seniors’ independence and access to community-based services, such as paratransit and shuttle services, nutrition programs, care management and disability services.  
State Health Insurance Assistance Program (800) 792-8820 SHIP is a statewide program that provides free health insurance options counseling for Medicare-eligible seniors. Through this program, trained volunteers provide in-person and over-the-phone assistance, helping seniors understand their Medicare benefits, research private Medicare options and apply for cost-saving programs. 
RSVP (973) 784-4900 RSVP is the nation’s largest volunteer agency for those aged 55 and over. Through the local program, seniors can serve their community in ways that fit their abilities and interests. Opportunities vary throughout the year but may include mentoring children and adults, leading health education courses and providing tax or Medicare counseling.  
Legal Services of Northwest Jersey (973) 285-6911 Legal Services of Northwest Jersey provides free legal aid and representation for older adults. Morris Township Senior Citizens Club (973) 326-7371 The Morris Plains Parks and Recreation Department has specialized programming for residents aged 60 and over. Through the Senior Citizens Club, older adults participate in exercise groups, games, reading and sewing circles, art classes and coffee socials. The department also organizes informational workshops and day trips to local attractions, and it publishes monthly newsletters. Membership costs $10 per year.  
New Jersey Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (877) 582-6995 The statewide long-term care ombudsman program advocates on behalf of those in assisted living facilities in Morris Plains.
