Services include congregate lunches, driver safety classes, wellness screenings that include blood pressure clinics and insurance information assistance. Free consultations with a local attorney who specializes in elder law are available every third Friday. There are numerous groups and clubs to join as well as activities such as dances, card tournaments, pancake breakfasts and fitness classes. 
Cherriots (503) 588-2877Seniors aged 50 and over are eligible for reduced fares on Salem-Keizer’s mass transit system, Cherriots. There is no need for Medicare cardholders to apply to receive reduced fares — all they need to do is to present their card to the bus driver upon boarding. Others can apply for a reduced-fare picture ID card at the Cherriots office or request that an application be mailed or faxed to them. 
American Legion Post 136(503) 364-0261Current members or veterans of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces can make new friends and receive services from their local chapter of the American Legion. Services include assistance by trained volunteers in identifying and accessing service-based entitlements and emergency financial help for qualifying individuals.
