Kalispell Assisted Living Financial Assistance

Seniors can’t use Medicaid to pay for assisted living in Montana. Instead, they can use the Big Sky Waiver. State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)(800) 551-3191The trained counselors at Montana SHIP provide seniors with unbiased and confidential counseling on Medicare-related issues. These include Medicaid, Medicare Advantage Programs, Long-Term Care Insurance and Medigap. All counseling is provided free to seniors, their caregivers or their families. Seniors can arrange for a one-on-one in-person or over-the-phone session with a counselor.
Montana Veterans Affairs(406) 755-3795The Veterans Affairs division works with seniors and their dependents to find the benefits available to them. They also assist veterans with housing issues, education, mental health care and long-term health care. Veterans Affairs operates three veterans homes in the state, where senior veterans and their spouses (if eligible) can find assisted living, skilled nursing care or memory care.
Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (800) 332-2272Ombudsmen advocate for the rights of seniors in long-term care facilities. They investigate complaints of neglect or abuse made by seniors or their caregivers. Once the complaint has been investigated, they worked to resolve the issue. Ombudsmen can also advise seniors on other medical bills.

The program can supply equipment or services that allow older adults to use telecommunications equipment more easily. Seniors’ income can’t be greater than 250% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for one person.
