Average assisted living prices in the eastern part of Massachusetts outside of the Boston metro area are similar to those of Framingham. Residents of assisted living facilities in Barnstable pay an average of $5,550, while their counterparts in Springfield average $5,350. Prices drop dramatically in the western part of the state, with Pittsfield residents averaging $3,013. The state of Massachusetts administers a program called the State Supplement Program designed to supplement the federal Social Security Supplemental Income by providing cash benefits to eligible recipients.
