The communities and apartment complexes typically feature senior-friendly and ADA-compliant designs such as single-floor living and wide doorways to accommodate wheelchairs. Though age-restricted to adults over the age of 55 or, in some cases, 62, these communities do not offer any care services and available amenities vary widely between different communities. Adults who choose a 55+ community should be capable of living independently.
