Acworth Assisted Living Financial Assistance

Seniors living in or moving into an assisted living community may be eligible to receive financial assistance through two Georgia Medicaid Waiver programs: Community Care Services Program and Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment. CCSP may provide some direct financial assistance, and SOURCE can connect assisted living services with an individual’s case management and medical care. Both waivers are for those who are Medicaid-qualified.

Courses are offered on fall prevention and managing chronic disease, among others. Seniors can find volunteer opportunities through AmeriCorps Seniors, find local transportation or receive assistive technology or emergency response. Financial assistance, future planning and insurance counseling are also available. 
Cobb County Senior Services(770) 528-5364Founded in 1972, Cobb County’s Senior Services connects individuals 55 and older with local activities, events and resources. Information is most easily obtained by phone, where individuals can get customized recommendations and referrals. Care managers are available to meet with seniors and their families to help create a plan to get the most out of available funding and services. Senior Services also runs RSVP,  a senior volunteer program that connects individuals to opportunities to use their interests and backgrounds. A number of virtual programs, ranging from exercise classes to cooking, are available through CCSS as well. 
Atlanta VA Medical Center(404) 321-6111Serving senior veterans and their family members through a variety of health care options, the Atlanta VA Medical Center combines primary health with specialized care services such as dental, pharmacy and audiology. Atlanta VA Medical Center also offers programs such as Whole Health, which uses a number of different modalities, including tai chi and acupressure, to improve veterans’ health.

Exercise classes include chair yoga and cardio, and there are day trips to local destinations such as the Atlanta Botanical Gardens as well as overnight trips. North Cobb Senior Center(770) 975-7740The North Cobb Senior Center is the central hub for Acworth seniors to access a variety of classes, events and programs that prioritize wellness, socialization and fun. Some class topics include estate planning and gardening, and there are games such as bridge, exercise classes such as yoga and special holiday events.
