Wynhoven Apartments is a senior living community and outreach ministry sponsored by the Archdiocese of New Orleans. The community is centrally located in the city of Marrero, a couple blocks from Marrero Health Care Center and just off Highway 90, for convenient access. The Mississippi River is less than a mile away, and residents may choose to spend time strolling by the riverside.
Housing is open to those 62 and older, or those with a qualifying disability who meet certain income guidelines. Life at Wynhoven centers around faith, fellowship and wellness, with several programs to enrich the quality of life for the residents. Caseworkers are on staff to help individuals navigate applying for benefits, medical care and insurance, including accessing in-home health care. The community has monitored entrances for residents’ security and landscaped grounds and walking paths for exercise. Staff members plan regular activities, games and group outings to encourage residents to socialize. Community volunteers assist with serving lunch, interacting with residents and providing companionship and transportation.
