Welcome to Willing Helpers Home For Women! Willing Helpers’ Home for Women is situated on approximately two acres of land within a quiet residential neighborhood in the south-end of Johnstown, New York. You can enjoy the serenity of this setting while resting upon the large open deck, or on one of the covered porches, or walking the grounds with a friend or the resident cat, Cooter. Cooter is another friendly face you’ll find at the home. She enjoys the company of residents as she plays and rests. Her engagement with residents provides a therapeutic and rejuvenating relationship while forming an everlasting bond
Willing Helpers’ Home wants the ladies to know that they will be going straight from their home into another very homey atmosphere. “This is not a nursing home,” emphasizes Director Tammy Kruger. “We are an adult home.” The living center at 226 W. Madison Avenue was established in 1908 and offers a lifestyle for its’ residents that promotes the quality of life they richly deserve. The staff at Willing Helpers’ Home has made it their commitment to present a compassionate and cordial environment that advocates security, independence, and comfort. Together, the quality of life and services make the home a distinquished facility for first-class living. The Home, for women aged 60 and older, offers an array of engaging and enjoyable activities for all. “Everybody has her own private room,” Kruger said. The Home, a not-for-profit organization, is run by a Board of Managers, with a staff of 18, supplying 24-hour supervision. Professional services include medical supervision, dietary adjustments upon the physician’s request, and an activities coordinator. A licensed physician visits the home every Tuesday to manage the resident’s medical needs. Additional services include a beauty salon, private phone and cable, housekeeping and personal laundry. Amenities include planned community outings and socials, an exercise program and recreational activities like weekly Bingo, and regular excursions to local shopping centers. The Home conducts teas, a Mother’s Day brunch, and other holiday activities. Local clergy provide regular religious services. In the fall the residents hatch and release Monarch.
