Overview

Care Types: Retirement, Assisted Living

Seniors who enjoy luxury, resort-like atmospheres and active living will easily feel at home within the fourteen acres that encompass Maple Village. The landscaping is breathtaking, from “Vince’s Garden,” planted by a resident and former seed company employee, to the exhibition of plant life and trees. A picturesque gazebo and fountain-centered pond create a tranquil air. Clusters of charming cottages surround the main high-rise building, which houses both assisted and independent living. Formerly an orphanage and partially constructed in the nineteenth century, this stone, brick and stucco building is both modern and historically rich.

Blue and plum tones and tasteful framed prints accent the traditionally furnished space. In the main building, resident rooms come fully furnished with ample closet space and open bathrooms. Residents are welcome to bring their own refrigerator and microwave for light cooking in their rooms. Groups of six apartments share a kitchenette and communal living space, with an aquarium and loveseat in each. Two separate dining rooms, for assisted and independent living, serve food supplied by a local food contracting agency. Prime rib is a resident favorite, although a birthday meal of steak or lobster is equally scrumptious.

Residents enjoy the freedom to come and go as they please, using an electronic key card for entrance in the evening. Nearby Willow Grove Mall provides retail therapy and welcomes indoor power walking, although Wegman’s Supermarket, coming soon, may be just as popular a local attraction. If residents prefer to engage themselves on-site, they can socialize with their peers in one of many common spaces. One lounge area called Village Green features a chessboard, big-screen TV and piano, and hosts multiple activities including movies, exercise classes and religious services. The onsite chapel, with an organ, prayer books and religious relics, provides a space for introspection. Village Fare, the resident-run gift shop, offers yet another opportunity for engagement over a cup of coffee and light snacks. A gorgeous glass-enclosed atrium, appropriately called the “Four Season” room, allows residents to enjoy a piece of nature year-round.
