Located about 15 minutes northeast of state capital Hartford, Vernon Manor is a post-hospital rehabilitation, long-term care and respite care community in Vernon, Connecticut. Vernon is home to the New England Civil War Museum, which houses one of the largest collections of related memorabilia in the Northeast. The area also includes a historic district featuring hundreds of buildings originally built in the early 19th century.
Vernon Manor supports seniors recovering from strokes, cardiac events, wounds, surgery and other medical conditions. The team of caregivers includes registered nurses, certified nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses, as well as physical, speech and occupational therapists. The community contains 14 private rooms and 14 semi-private rooms. All rooms feature state-of-the-art beds, couches and other furniture designed to increase comfort and ease maneuverability. The culinary team works in conjunction with the community’s doctors and nutrition specialists in designing food menus with an eye toward individual preferences and restrictions. Residents can choose to take meals in the dining room or in their personal rooms. Multiple socially enriching activities are available on-site, including painting classes, discussion groups, religious services, musical performances, and low-impact exercise and sports.
