Cooper Villa is conveniently located in Arlington’s entertainment district. The facility is close to shopping malls, the Six Flags amusement park and the Ameriquest Field ballpark, home of the Texas Rangers. The red and white brick facility is situated on well-maintained grounds of trimmed lawns and hedges. The lobby is especially bright and airy due to its skylights and high ceilings. We were greeted by the welcoming sounds of residents laughing and socializing in this warm setting.
Residents’ spacious rooms all have windows. The recent remodeling of the building has upgraded its overall appearance but left all the charm and coziness of home. The Cottage’s dining room is suitably sized for the residents of this unit. The main dining room, which is a bit larger, is furnished with dark tables and chairs upholstered in pretty fabrics. Residents use the common areas for scheduled activities. The building features skylights and windows throughout. Soft light radiating from glass and metal fixtures is a gentler alternative to fluorescent lighting. The wide hallways are equipped with support systems.
The well-kept outdoor area sports a large furnished patio; it is secured for added safety and comfort. Residents stroll along curved pathways and gather around the hanging birdfeeders, near the designated gardening areas. Residents benefit from the enthusiasm of three activity coordinators. Residents offer suggestions and feedback, participating in event planning on nearly every level. Activity mainstays include manicures and pedicures, dominoes, bingo, arts and crafts, and nightly movies. Residents look energetic and content. The management and staff were friendly and attentive to both residents and their guests. Heavy participation from staff and residents has created a tight-knit community.
