Yellow clapboard interspersed with white trim comprises the exterior of this facility, which takes several nods from its distinctive parent company, Sunrise Senior Living. Bright pink and red flowers peer out from hanging baskets that line the perimeter of the covered wraparound porch. Cushioned rocking chairs afford residents prime porch seating. Wooden benches, umbrella-topped tables, walking paths and a gazebo intersect the flower-dotted grounds.
A sunroom spans the building’s immediate interior, leading into a huge open area that contains the bistro and several living rooms. These spaces double as activity and entertainment spots. During our tour, we observed a group of residents waiting for an exercise class to begin in one of the living rooms. Deep red carpet and cream-colored walls adorned with framed pictures augment the home-like décor. Furniture is comfortable and in excellent condition. Hallways contain unique lounging areas with big-screen TVs and plenty of cozy seating. Many residents were socializing or reading in these areas at the time of our visit. Resident rooms are large and comfortably furnished. Shadow boxes containing family photographs are placed outside the doors. Neutral-colored carpet and walls offer a blank canvas for residents to decorate with personal belongings.
An elegant dining room offers dietician-developed menus that accommodate low-salt and diabetic needs. Muffins, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and juice are available anytime. We noticed an air of comfort about the residents, many of whom have chosen to live here for the social interaction. Staff members appeared very committed to their jobs, and their interactions with residents were both professional and warm. A wide variety of activities is in place, including puzzles, exercise, watching movies and field trips to local restaurants and shopping destinations.
