Tucked within the grounds of Riddle Memorial Hospital, Riddle Village’s five connected buildings allow residents easy mobility between the many common spaces. The property is perfectly designed for enjoying the outdoors. All buildings have balconies, and the grounds include a putting green and a flower garden planted by residents. The lobby provides more recreational options, with a library at one end, two billiard tables in an adjacent lounge and a big-screen TV in a nearby sitting area.Assisted living residents, who are only admitted from within Riddle Village, occupy a building called The Inne. Residents with dementia are also housed here, but wear Watch Mate bracelets to help ensure their safety. There is a separate, pleasant dining room for those with dementia. The top two floors compose the skilled nursing unit, known as Monticello House. Skilled nursing residents have a choice between private and semiprivate accommodations, and independent living residents enjoy spacious apartments scattered across the campus.The Life Long Learning program at Neumann College offers courses offered both on the college campus and at Riddle Village. Residents don’t have to look far to keep active, with a pool and gym on-site. Staff members accompany assisted living residents to these areas. Multiple activity rooms host games, arts and crafts and religious services. When we toured this facility, we met a married man with a unique living arrangement. His wife lives in an independent living apartment, while he maintains a home in The Inne. Despite their physical separation, they maintain a close, loving relationship. While she was away visiting her son, he made sure to water her plants and keep an eye on her apartment. He was clearly positive about their situation, and happy to live in a place in which both their needs are addressed.
