Providence St. Elizabeth Care

Providence St. Elizabeth Care Center, located off a busy street, is in fantastic condition. Flowers brighten the front yard. The administrator welcomed us like a hostess proud of her home and family. With thirteen years of experience under her belt, she’s no stranger to showing off the center. She knows all residents by name, and this familiarity clearly trickles down to the staff. We observed a physical therapy session, and it seemed like the residents and staffers were having fun, joking around and trying new techniques.

The décor in the lobby is crisp and clean, with small doses of color brightening the predominantly white room. Contemporary white chairs are practical yet comfy. The cheerful activity room sits adjacent to the entrance. Hanging schedules outline the month’s activities, physical therapy sessions and socials. Comfortable sofas and chairs line the room. We were privy to a special resident reading during our visit. The other residents appeared enthralled while one man read aloud from a book, something we were told he does daily. Some activities occur on the small enclosed patio, with plants scattered throughout. Groups often congregate, utilizing the attractive patio furniture for socializing and card games. The center has two dining rooms, one for people who require feeding assistance. The furnishings appeared new. Homey resident rooms contain linoleum flooring and white walls, creating a blank canvas for residents to personalize. Although the bathrooms are small, they appeared neat and serviceable.
