The Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, named after a World War II hero and Medal of Honor recipient, is located in downtown Scranton, PA. Statues near the facility’s entrance represent the five branches of the armed forces. Nearby is the Carol Ann Drazba Memorial, recognizing one of the eight nurses killed in the Vietnam War.

The Gino J. Merli Veterans Center is a 196-bed facility that offers skilled nursing care and memory care. Staff members provide the necessary support for veterans to lead active, healthy, and independent lives to the greatest extent possible. Each furnished room allows veterans to personalize their space with military treasures, family photos, and other keepsakes. Residents plan and execute the center’s programs and activities, which include bingo, birthday celebrations, and outings to professional sports games. Seniors can get fresh air while enjoying the sunshine from the covered pavilion in the courtyard, and horticulture-inclined residents can plant flowers and vegetables in the victory garden.  The facility also hosts an onsite chapel, a barbershop, a beautician, and a snack shop.
