It provides options counseling for older adults to help provide guidance on programs and support services that they qualify for, including financial assistance programs that can help cover assisted living expenses. This counseling is provided over the phone, by appointment and via home visits with ADRC options counselors.
Area Agency on Aging(970) 248-2717The local Area Agency on Aging provides an array of services to those aged 60 and over. These services promote independence and quality of life and include support such as homemaker assistance, nutrition programs and transportation. It also has an ombudsman program that fields complaints and investigates reports of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation that takes place in local assisted living communities. These services are generally provided by local agencies that contract with AAA.
Grand Junction Vet Center(970) 245-4156Grand Junction’s local vet center provides an array of services to qualifying military veterans and their spouses, some of which may help fund assisted living. Some services provided at the center include bereavement counseling, substance abuse assessments and referrals and referrals for other VA services, including the VA pension and the Aid and Attendance assistance program. The center is open on weekdays during normal business hours, and while services are provided on a walk-in basis, veterans are encouraged to call to schedule an appointment.
Grand Junction Senior Recreation Center(970) 243-7408The Grand Junction Senior Recreation Center is open six days per week and provides a fun, enriching atmosphere for older adults age 50 and over. For a low annual membership fee, seniors can participate in daily activities such as computer classes, games, dancing classes, Bible studies and paint classes.
