The ranch home is situated in a busy residential area adjacent to various long-term care facilities and local shopping. The lobby reminded us of a luxurious hotel, with its lovely chandeliers, hanging artwork, fresh flowers and attractive furnishings. The armchairs are noticeably elevated, a feature that allows residents to maneuver in and out of the seats with ease. Windows bathe the facility in natural light. Reminiscence Neighborhood, the secured Alzheimer’s unit, is a warm and cozy environment decorated with antiques.

Residents furnish their moderately sized rooms. Most have windows that brighten the space. A waitstaff serves meals in the spacious main dining area, which features elegant table décor. A small bistro is well-stocked with snacks. The dining area in Reminiscence Neighborhood doubles as an activity space. The unit also boasts a cozy outdoor area; residents enjoy comfortable seating, walking paths and even gardening!

The activity schedule offers events from morning until evening. Happy hour and wine and cheese socials are big favorites in the house. Other mainstays include bingo, field trips and musical performances. Reminiscence Neighborhood activities are tailored to enhance residents’ cognitive skills and responses. The unit features a separate therapy room that utilizes soothing lighting and music to help calm agitated residents.
