The nursing station at McClure Rehabilitation Center is situated right at the entrance, so visitors are greeted immediately. The wooden framed counter set against mauve wallpaper and shiny floors creates an attractive area. Residents greet visiting family members in a private room that flanks the entrance hall.

Residents’ small rooms are partially furnished, with armoires and dressers. Some rooms have windows; others have sliding doors that open to the patio. Both dining areas are flushed with natural light; they also double as activity rooms. At the time of our visit, a table in the center of the room was strewn with activity supplies. …. SHOW MORE

The outdoor area features several patio tables and chairs. Residents enjoy observing the steady pedestrian traffic from the two enclosed balconies on either side of the building. Soft artificial lighting radiates in the wide hallways. We noted a few residents roaming the halls as well as another group en route to an arts and crafts activity in dining area.

The president of the resident council commended the McClure staff. She also voiced her desire to be in the home rather than in the hospital and mentioned that the other residents enjoy living there as much as she does. During a bout with pneumonia, the staff thoughtfully invited a religious group, Messengers of Love, to provide her with spiritual companionship.
