Belleville Co-op is a clean, quiet, and well maintained apartment building for low income senior citizens. The building was built in 2004 and stills looks and feels brand new. The design of the individual units, common areas and grounds is phenomenal.
Apartment amenities include built-in collapsible kitchen
tables, large refrigerators and stoves, individually controlled air
conditioning/heating, emergency pull cord stations in bedrooms and bathrooms,
open kitchens with lots of storage, and free wireless internet.
The grounds and common areas of the building includes a fully stocked and
furnished library with a computer that has internet access, large/fully
furnished lobbies on each floor, laundry room, hair salon, commercial kitchen,
recreational room, balconies & patios, exercise room, pool table, large
elevators, and a big screen television with dvd/vcr/cable. Parking is
conveniently positioned close to the building, and entrances have automatic
openers with restricted access by way of an electronic key FOB that is assigned
to each tenant.
The grounds make you feel like you’re in a beautiful park or oasis and the
gardens are plentiful and overflowing with flowers.
Community involvement is a key feature of this building, and there is always fun
to be had with neighbors and friends. Activities include movie night, shopping
trips in the building van, gardening, exercising, holiday dinners and parties,
cards, playing pool or just sitting back and enjoying the furnished balconies or
community rooms.
Belleville Co-op is cooperatively managed, meaning the members have a voice in
the way the building is run. An example of this is our building members have the
opportunity to participate in monthly general meetings where they are able to
vote on building issues. This ensures that the building members are always top
priority. Also, there are many volunteer opportunities that provide camaraderie
among committee members. Committees include grounds, décor, activities, van
trips, gift shop, movies, kitchen, finance, leasing, and the sunshine committee.
Members can also be voted into the building council and be a major part in
making a difference for everyone in the building while at the same time learning
new skills.
