The Dining Experience at The Society House

The residents at The Society House (TSH) look in anticipation to the variety and quality of the food. Our fresh herbs and vegetables from our own organic garden are always a hit in the warm weather.

Our gourmet chef has many years of dynamic experience in kitchens throughout the region. He loves baking and has inspired deserts all of the time. (Tuesday is a special baking day.) Chef’s flavors and combinations are unique and delicious with rave reviews daily.

As I write, tonight we are having a baked flounder stuffed with wild crab. We were just delivered hanger steaks, duck breast, lobster and airline chicken among other delights. What the chef does with the ingredients is spectacular.

We respect the dietary needs and desires of those living here. High blood sugar is common among people now. Our chef has all of our diabetes type 2 residents off of insulin. Most people coming here lose weight while eating more but healthier food choices. We are low/no salt providers, using alternative seasonings.

Observing all of the holidays is a fun way to enjoy a change in the normal diet and acknowledging the culture of others. Each holiday provides something different and at the same time, a familiar link to everyone’s past to share. Resident provides readings from their culture shared with all.

Birthdays are celebrated even for those who otherwise refuse to admit they exist. The evening meal is the birthday person’s choice and the desserts are special to the celebrant. Pre civid19, family members were invited to join in with the residents to honor their loved ones. This practice will return when the threat is gone.
