Potted plants and flowers enhance the picturesque setting, where residents often relax and enjoy views of the town below. The hallways are equipped with rich wooden handrails and feature intermittent rest spots.

During our visit, a group of residents gathered in the physical therapy room for their strength-building class. A testament to Orinda’s stable staff, the physical therapist has been with Orinda for more than thirty-five years! In fact, the average tenure of staff members seems to be about eleven years, with a handful of staff having been on board for twenty years or longer. Orinda’s staff consistently goes the extra mile for their residents. The administrator related a story of the dietary supervisor traveling into town to gather fresh ingredients for a resident’s stuffed pepper craving. The pepper was prepared and served within the hour. The administrator believes that compassion, humor and truth help everyone adapt to the changing needs of their residents. We believe that the flexibility of this caring staff makes Orinda Convalescent Hospital a true star.
