New Horizon Board & Care is located in Elk Grove, CA, a suburb of Sacramento County, and many residents are families and young professionals. Seniors live in a quiet residential area only a short distance from many health care providers and pharmacies. Sacramento County also has many retail shops, churches, movie theaters and other entertainment and cultural attractions beckoning seniors who live at New Horizon.
The staff at New Horizon Board & Care is trained in memory care for residents who have Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. The memory care area of the home is secured and equipped with a computerized WanderGuard system that sounds an alarm if residents wander towards doors or unsafe areas. Staff provide assistance with activities of daily living and medication management. They’re also trained to use Hoyer Lifts for total transfers when necessary.

Residents have access to a secure indoor common area, but they live in private or semi-private rooms. Three daily meals are served in the dining room. Staff promote a comfortable, family style environment and provide prompts to remind seniors of activities and scheduled events when necessary. Complimentary transportation is provided for appointments and shopping or errands.
