Brookdale Richland Hills

Alterra Clare Bridge Cottage shares an expansive, lush campus with its sister assisted living facility. Past the secured entrance, a quaint common area features a red brick fireplace flanked by built-in bookcases. Rich sofas and chairs in deep grays, maroons and greens are lovely against the subdued walls; attractive painted landscapes add the finishing touch.

Residents’ semi-private rooms are spacious enough to accommodate two nightstands and twin beds. Each room features dark green carpeting and eggshell-colored walls. Residents personalize their rooms with memory box displays of personal knickknacks and memorabilia. Each hallway is painted a different color to help residents easily identify their rooms. Both dining areas (one is reserved for residents who require more assistance) are strategically located close to the activity area and center courtyard. The cozy layout gives staff a clear vantage point of residents in each area. Residents are able to wander safely within the secured courtyard. The garden features grassy lawns and many shaded spots for outdoor relaxation. Paved sections of the patio accommodate residents who use wheelchairs.

Residents enjoy a packed activities calendar. At least twice a week, residents from both the Cottage and the assisted living facility get together for shared events, allowing a change of scenery for both groups. Other scheduled activities include morning exercise, cooking pursuits and staff-chaperoned trips to plays and North East Mall. Alterra Clare Bridge residents seem very active. Staff and residents interacted comfortably with one another during our visit. When we arrived, residents were busy preparing various snacks for the holiday party scheduled that day.
