Atria Walnut Creek

Lofty trees grace the hillside entrance to Atria Montego Heights. As we approached, a group of residents gathered for a coffee break on the front porch. The interior is a luxurious blend of silk flower arrangements, upholstered chairs and rich wooden bookshelves and armoires—the very picture of gracious living. An aquarium adds lovely color to the foyer.

Each of residents’ spacious rooms features a private balcony overlooking the city of Walnut Creek. Fresh flowers brighten the dining area, where the chef organizes monthly parties. Residents delight in being served by the administrative department heads, a tradition at one of the special events. Another much-lauded event is the brunch buffet on the last Sunday of every month; many residents invite their loved ones to partake of the feast. A spacious conference room flanks the auditorium. Lectures, plays, training sessions and resident council meetings convene in both areas.

Residents take advantage of the serene garden bordered by tall trees, relaxing among birdfeeders and a decorative fountain. The walking bridge that spans a goldfish pond is one of residents’ favorite spots to stroll. Another excellent choice for outdoor relaxation is the gazebo, which provides shaded seating.

As we waited for our tour guide, a group of female residents sought our opinion on their lovely community. One resident expressed her love of the facility, remarking that she attends lots of activities—although bingo is her favorite. The event calendar is packed with fun choices, including Pictionary, chess, checkers, poker and assorted other card games.
