Overview

Care Types: Nursing Care, Memory Care, Assisted Living

Greenery ensconces the attractive building that is Immaculate Mary Home. Stained glass windows and religious statues set a reverential tone. A secured area, monitored by camera, bears a network of walking paths among resident-tended gardens. Seats are everywhere. The outdoor space appears to have been designed with invigoration in mind, as there’s even a children’s play area to fill the yard with the sounds of young giggles. The interior incorporates traditional furnishings that look clean and well-cared for. Plants are scattered about.

The living space is divided into several sections; rehab and hospice residents occupy the first two floors, the third floor houses residents with dementia and the fourth floor is reserved for higher-functioning residents. Dining rooms on each floor connect to lounges with traditional furnishings and tables. A typical breakfast offers hot and cold cereals and an egg dish or pancakes, while lunch and dinner serve up hot selections, soups and sandwiches. Each floor also has its own recreational therapist, activity room and “fish” room featuring an impressive aquarium. Residents seem young at heart, engaging in a variety of activities at every level of programming. Second-floor activities include crafts, music, sensory walks, rosary, bingo, pet therapy and bowling. The dementia unit incorporates reminiscing, musical memories, wisdom circles and cooking. Residents on the fourth floor exercise in the mornings and fill their days with crafts, discussion groups, music and parties. The occasional cocktail hour provides higher-functioning residents a chance to unwind after an active day. …. SHOW MORE

Immaculate Mary Home has palpable religious undertones. To accommodate the varied population, alternative activities are generally offered concurrently with mass. The spacious second floor chapel has a nice balcony for post-mass contemplation. A strong emphasis is placed on pastoral care, and families are encouraged to utilize the facility’s chapel. We found staff members to be reserved, but friendly and caring.
