Aurora Australis Lodge is a large senior community located on the outskirts of Columbus, in a neighborhood interspersed with wooded lots, residential homes and suburban strip malls. Baptist Memorial Hospital is just 10 minutes from the community, offering quick access to emergency medical care, as well as one of the best cardiac rehabilitation programs in the nation.
Residents of Aurora Health and Rehabilitation have access to long-term or short-term rehabilitation and restorative nursing care from a 24-hour team of licensed nurses and therapists. The community’s specialized rehabilitation services include wound care, IV therapy and dialysis support, as well as opportunities for occupational and speech therapy. The community features a unique layout that includes a central nursing station with five connected hallways to allow caregivers to monitor residents and step in to assist with mobility when necessary. Home cooked meals are served in the open dining hall, giving seniors an opportunity to socialize. A full schedule of social and educational activities encourages them to pursue personal interests or learn something new, and the community also holds special events such as seafood boils or seasonal parties.
