Freedom is an important concept at Kendal at Hanover. Resident-directed activities and life-enhancing friendships enrich community life. Residents may be as active or as quiet as they desire. This design supports a range of individual lifestyles, promotes community interaction, and optimizes mobility for people with a variety of physical capabilities. Although there is more than enough to keep our residents busy within Kendal, many residents have an entirely additional “life” outside of Kendal. Many residents volunteer throughout the Upper Valley, in a variety of settings, participate in lifelong learning programs at Dartmouth College and even audit classes. Kendal at Hanover has the feel of a small town, where the Community Center acts as a main hub for resident activity and socialization. The Kendal environment supports each resident to live to his or her full potential.
