What is AAHSA?
The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) is the national nonprofit organization representing over 5,600 nonprofit nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities, assisted living residences, senior housing facilities and community service organizations for older adults and others with special needs.

When you join AAHSA, you join forces with not-for-profit providers of aging services from across the country who are leaders in the long-term care field.. AAHSA offers its members access to a wide range of benefits and services.

Lead the development of an integrated continuum of chronic or long-term care services, which includes supportive housing.

AAHSA Works For You In Washington
AAHSA represents the concerns of not-for-profit providers of senior services with a strong, united voice through its interaction with Congress and federal agencies. Through advocacy, grassroots action and coalition work, AAHSA influences public policy pertaining to health, housing, community and related services to ensure that seniors receive the services they need, and to protect and enhance the viability of not-for-profit providers. AAHSA also offers members information and assistance in interpreting relevant bills, laws and regulations.

AAHSA Keeps You Well Informed
AAHSA offers timely newsletters, publications and other communications to keep you up-to-date on Congressional and regulatory action, and trends and issues in the field of aging services.

AAHSA Currents, published monthly, reports on public policy action in long-term care and housing issues and alerts members to new developments and current opinions in the field.

Washington Report provides biweekly summaries of AAHSA public policy activities on behalf of its members.

Health Bulletin, Housing Bulletin and other public policy alerts, issued periodically, contain analyses of regulations or provide the current status on critical issues of immediate interest and concern to AAHSA members.

AAHSA Publications offers books, training programs, videotapes and guidebooks produced by experts in aging, long term care and housing.

AAHSA Provides High-Quality Education
Education and training are offered in a variety of formats designed to meet the diverse information needs of professionals in the aging services field.

AAHSA's Annual Meeting & Exposition is highly acclaimed for its extensive curriculum. The continuing education program offers more than 175 concurrent sessions, symposia and workshops. The exposition enables participants to view hundreds of the latest products and services.

AAHSA's Annual Spring Conference & Exposition, held in Washington, DC, combines reports on the latest developments in public policy with intensive educational programs. The public policy and educational components are enhanced by visits to members of Congress.

AAHSA Seminars focus on topics of major concern to members and permit comprehensive examination of issues vital to effective management of not-for-profit organizations.

AAHSA Allows You to Save
AAHSA offers services that allow members to save money on facility purchases and on insurance coverage.

AAHSA's National Group Purchasing Program provides members the opportunity to take advantage of more than 75 contracts for supplies, equipment, furniture, appliances and consumer goods, enabling savings of 20 to 25 percent on hundreds of items used in members' daily operations.

AAHSA Insurance Programs are comprehensive and competitive. These programs offer property/casualty, legal liability and group accident coverage at lower, more consistent rates.

AAHSA Helps You Grow
AAHSA can help member facilities grow and expand their services.

AAHSA Development Corporation provides consultation to members' development planning and assists members in obtaining project financing. ADC publications and educational programs keep members informed on various capital formation techniques and resources.

Primary Members
The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging has been a leader in the field of care and services for seniors since its founding in 1961. Nonprofit providers of care and services are the primary members. AAHSA represents over 5,600 nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities, senior housing facilities, assisted living residences and community-based service organizations.

If your organization wishes to join AAHSA, please contact the AAHSA state affiliate in your state. AAHSA has 39 state affiliates. The listing of affiliated state associations is available on the AAHSA home page, www.aahsa.org. If your state is not listed, you may join AAHSA directly by calling (202) 783-2242 or by e-mail to inform@aahsa.org.

Provider member dues are based on the number of beds or apartments or units. Community-based services pay a millage rate based upon expenses. Organizations join through the state association, which collects the AAHSA dues.

Associate Members Organizations and individuals who support the mission and purpose of AAHSA are eligible to join. The associate member category includes individuals, national, state and local organizations, retired administrators from AAHSA facilities, students, attorneys, and business firms. Associate members can join AAHSA directly. The dues for the associate categories are as follows:

National Organizations-$540
State and Local Organizations-$280
Attorneys-$175
Retired Administrators-$25
Individuals-$138
Trustees-$75
Special (students, residents, etc.)-$75
