Assisted Living in Saint Charles, Missouri

Saint Charles is a suburb of St. Louis, located on the Missouri River. It has a population of over 70,000 inhabitants with seniors of 65 years and older constituting 16.4% of that number. Summers are hot and humid, winters are very cold and the city experiences partly cloudy weather year-round.

Saint Charles is situated at the eastern end of the 225-mile Katy Trail, a scenic state park ideal for seniors who enjoy walking or biking along the country’s longest rail-trail, which skirts the Missouri River for most of its length. Saint Charles’ riverfront and main street features restored buildings, restaurants and boutiques and is the hub of the city where many annual festivals and community gatherings are held. Seniors that are dog owners will also appreciate the Parks and Recreation’s off-leash dog park that can be found at the northern end of the city.

Saint Charles Assisted Living Financial Assistance

The Missouri state Medicaid plan, MO Healthnet, covers the cost of nursing home care for residents of 65 years and older with certain conditions. Applicants must meet the financial requirements and must require nursing home care which includes 24-hour nursing care, therapy, nutrition management and activities. The state also has a Supplemental Nursing Care program that assists with the expenses of living in an assisted living facility. Missouri’s Pharmacy Assistance program additionally provides up to 50% of payments on prescription medications for those who are eligible for Medicaid and Medicare.
