The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s Medicaid Program provides low-income seniors and disabled persons with financial assistance for some services associated with assisted living, including assistance with bathing, dressing and everyday grooming activities as well as transportation to and from medical and dental appointments. Southeast Idaho Council of Governments (208) 233-4535The Southeast Idaho Council of Governments serves as the Area Agency on Aging for Pocatello and its surrounding communities. Residents and their families can get information on local, state and federal services designed to promote independence and improve the quality of life among senior citizens. The agency offers health insurance counseling and fall prevention workshops; it also administers local senior nutrition programs and provides appropriate referrals to community-based programs and services. 
Pocatello Senior Activity Center(208) 233-1212Pocatello Senior Activity Center is open Monday through Friday and provides local seniors with a variety of life-enriching activities and programs and the opportunity to socialize with their peers in a safe, supportive environment. Seniors can drop in for games of cards with their friends, participate in group exercise sessions and enjoy hot, nutritious meals served at noon on weekdays. 
Idaho Commission on Aging Long-Term Care Ombudsman(208) 233-4032Idaho’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman program is designed to help safeguard the rights of those in long-term care facilities, including seniors in assisted living communities. One-on-one consultations are available to residents of these facilities, or their family and friends, who have concerns regarding issues involving the safety, health and general welfare of facility residents. The commission also visits each facility at least once per calendar quarter. All interactions are held in the strictest confidence. 
American Legion Post 4(228) 234-4914Those who have served in any branch of the U.S. military are eligible for membership in the American Legion. Along with plenty of opportunities to socialize with other former service personnel and their families, American Legion members can find help filling out the complex forms associated with applying for service-based benefits. Those who meet certain income criteria may also be eligible for emergency financial assistance from the American Legion. 
Pocatello Regional Transit(208) 234-2287Those age 60 and over are eligible to receive 50% off fixed-route fares Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Pocatello Regional Transit. Door-to-door transportation is also available for those who pre-qualify; the suggested donation is $2.
