La Quinta Assisted Living Financial Assistance

The Assisted Living Waiver pays for residential care services in La Quinta for seniors who meet Medi-Cal’s financial and functional requirements and reside in an approved facility. This waiver covers services such as transportation, meals and personal care services. Enrollment is capped, so those who qualify for services may be placed on a wait list.

It operates over two dozen programs for seniors in La Quinta and the surrounding communities. Its Care Coordination & Case Management Program helps older adults access short- and long-term services in the community, and through HelpLink Information & Assistance, trained community resource specialists provide options counseling and informational resources on addressing and preventing elder abuse. 
La Quinta Senior Services (760) 564-0096 The city’s Senior Services Division serves La Quinta adults aged 55 and older through social and recreational programming and information on local resources and supports. It operates the Wellness Center, where staff members provide general information, such as special grocery store hours and discounts for seniors, transportation services and durable medical equipment loans.  
Long-Term Care Ombudsman (833) 772-6624 The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is a service of the Council on Aging. It provides advocacy services for those who live in assisted living and other long-term residential care facilities in La Quinta and the surrounding area. The Ombudsman helps seniors and families compare local assisted living facilities, understand contracts and payment obligations and identify options for paying for care. The office also fields and investigates reports of mistreatment in assisted living facilities and notifies the proper authorities, and it helps residents resolve interpersonal disputes. 
Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (909) 256-8369 HICAP is a statewide program that provides free health insurance options counseling for older adults who qualify for Medicare. Through this program, seniors in La Quinta meet with trained volunteers in person or over the phone and get answers to questions about their Medicare benefits and options, Medicaid and long-term care insurance. Volunteers also help participants review their medical statements and recognize and resolve billing errors or dispute denied health insurance claims.  
Inland Counties Legal Services (Riverside Office) (951) 368-2555 Inland Counties Legal Services’ Riverside office serves low-income seniors in La Quinta and the surrounding region. This office is staffed by volunteer legal professionals who help seniors access public benefits that may help cover assisted living expenses, such as Social Security Disability Income, Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid. Staff can also help resolve issues such as denied health insurance claims, overpayments and canceled benefits.  
County of Riverside Veterans’ Services (951) 955-3060 The county’s Veterans’ Services Office advocates on behalf of veterans and helps them identify and obtain benefits they’re entitled to. Through this office, veterans can apply for the Aid and Attendance Benefit, which can be used toward living expenses, including residential care costs. The office can also help veterans determine whether they qualify for other benefits, such as health insurance, memorial benefits and VA assisted living placement.
