Idaho seniors who meet certain income guidelines may be able to receive help paying for some of the costs associated with assisted living from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s Medicaid Program. Lake City Center (208) 667-4628The Lake City Center serves congregate lunches for seniors at 12 p.m. each weekday except for Thursday. Reservations should be made at least one hour before noon to ensure there are ample quantities of food. There is also birthday cake on the last Friday of every month to celebrate those born in that month. Other services provided by the center include activities such as line dancing classes, tai chi, pool, cribbage, watercolor classes, arts and crafts, bingo and group outings. 
Idaho Commission on Aging Long-Term Care Ombudsman(208) 233-4032Residents of long-term care facilities can reach out to the Idaho Commission on Aging Long-Term Care Ombudsman for relevant advocacy and information regarding their legal rights concerning health and safety issues. The office also visits facilities four times per year and offers private consultations to residents and their family members. 
American Legion Post 143(208) 699-6540Former and current members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families can access social activities and services from their local chapter of the American Legion. The Legion has trained volunteers who assist former service members and their dependents with navigating the red tape of applying for relevant service-based entitlements. Emergency assistance may also be available for those who qualify. 
Area Agency on Aging of North Idaho (208) 667-3179The Area Agency on Aging provides seniors in North Idaho with a variety of direct and indirect services. Indirect services include referrals to relevant national, state, county and municipal programs designed to promote a better quality of life among older individuals. Direct services include Medicare and Medicaid counseling, slip-and-fall awareness and prevention workshops and screenings for conditions such as Type II diabetes and high blood pressure. 
Ring-a-Ride (208) 446-1616Those 65 and over can access wheelchair-accessible transportation through Ring-a-Ride. Riders must be able to handle their own packages and bags or have an assistant who can do so for them, and because this is not a door-to-door service, they must be able to meet drivers at a designated location.
