Assisted Living in Champaign, Illinois

Home to the Urbana-Champaign branch of the University of Illinois, Champaign is a small city whose senior residents make up 9.7% of the population. Although the winters here are cold, retiring in an Illinois college town has its perks. In addition to clean air and a fairly walkable environment, The Prairie State offers seniors significant savings by allowing them to keep their Social Security benefits, pensions or other retirement earnings tax-free. Champaign also has many attractions, including The Virginia Theater and the Krannert Art Museum. Add to that the low cost of living, and Champaign can be considered a viable retirement option.

Older adults who can actively perform their routine functions but require some assistance with their activities of daily living can opt for assisted living care. Assisted living facilities offer the best of both worlds for seniors by providing care and support when needed while retaining their maximum freedom. According to the Genworth 2021 Cost of Care Survey, the average cost of assisted living services in Champaign is $4,750 per month, which is a bit higher than the state and national average.

This guide provides more information about monthly care costs and helps seniors compare the available care options.
