The Barren River Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living is funded through the Older Americans Act to provide free and low-cost services to seniors in Bowling Green and the surrounding region. Its experienced counselors offer up-to-date information and assistance for seniors regarding local programs and supports, including those that may help them pay for assisted living services. It provides free, unbiased options counseling for Medicare-eligible individuals, including assistance with understanding benefits, comparing Medicare Advantage and Medigap plans and disputing denied claims. The AAA also has a long-term care ombudsman that advocates on behalf of those in assisted living facilities.

Community Action of Southern Kentucky is a local nonprofit organization that provides services and supports for qualifying residents in the Bowling Green region. Through its Warren County office, seniors can arrange transportation services for medical appointments and local errands. The organization operates a senior center that hosts congregate meals and social and recreational activities, along with health and wellness screenings, fitness programs and information and referral services. It also provides volunteer opportunities for seniors through RSVP, a nationwide volunteer network for those aged 55 and over.
