Alzheimer's
Care
Caring for the special needs of a family member with Alzheimer's disease, or
any memory-related disorder, is a difficult and emotional job. Whether his or
her condition is Alzheimer's, Parkinson's-related dementia or a memory disorder
brought on by stroke, Down's syndrome, brain injury or one of many other causes,
it presents a number of distinct challenges. Woodbines' dedicated Alzheimer's
care wing is designed to meet those challenges by providing supervision and
preserving dignity in a safe, comfortable environment.
Psychiatric
Care
Our innovative Med/Psych program recognizes the need to address depression and
other mental disorders in the elderly, which have been called the "unseen
epidemic in older Americas." We designed this unique service to assist
residents in our subacute, intermediate and long-term care units who exhibit
symptoms of mental or behavioral disorders. Our goal is to restore each resident
to his or her maximum level of mental health.
Respiratory
Care
We provide specialized care for people with chronic respiratory problems. Our
highly experienced staff has enabled many of our residents who were previously
dependent on a ventilator to return home, breathing completely on their own
or with minimum mechanical assistance at night. Since 1992, we have successfully
weaned 75% of our respiratory rehabilitation patients and have become one of
the region's largest respiratory care providers.
Rehabilitation
Services
Woodbine's rehabilitation depart offer intensive, results-oriented therapy in
a highly supportive environment. We take an aggressive, yet realistic, approach
to recovery, preparing a custom plan of treatment for each person. Over the
years, we've helped hundreds of residents become as independent as possible.
In fact, we have an excellent success rate, returning a high percentage of our
rehabilitation patients to their homes. Our rehabilitation services include
physical, occupational and speech therapies.
Subacute
Care
As a leader in subacute services, we provide compassionate, yet highly technical,
care for short-term and long-term patients. Our overall objective is to enable
patients to move to a lower level of care as quickly as possible, whether it's
returning home or moving to a less-intensive setting here at Woodbine. To meet
that goal, we prepare a custom plan of treatment for each resident. We also
focus on educating and preparing the entire family to handle the transition
to the next level of care.
