at The Village benefit immediately from its unique, secure and comforting setting.
With highly innovative sensory- and
memory-stimulating benefits, The Village provides one of the most advanced therapeutic
environments in the world and is staffed with highly qualified, caring professionals.
A licensed nurse, certified nursing assistants and home health aides are on
site 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Based on assessed needs, residents receive
personal care and health care monitoring throughout the day, every day.
Complete with an old-fashioned barbershop
pole, a bold-faced clock tower and clapboard and brick storefronts, "Main
Street" at The Village replicates a quaint New England town. Just beyond
Main Street, The Village offers 52 charming apartments with picturesque views.
Each studio is perfectly suited to accommodate a resident with memory loss and
has a large, private bathroom. Residents' personal furnishings and memorabilia
complement the built-in wardrobe and bureau provided.

If you or someone you know is the primary caregiver for a person with Alzheimer's
disease or some other form of memory impairment, you should know that The Village
at Waveny Care Center welcomes respite guests for visits that last from a long
weekend to one month or longer.

Waveny Care Center is a not-for-profit
skilled nursing facility that offers comprehensive health care services to older
adults and others incapacitated by illness or injury. Waveny encourages and
assists individuals to live with dignity and as independently as circumstances

The Care Center is among an elite nationwide group of long-term care facilities
that have earned the Gold Seal of Approval™ from the prestigious Joint
Commission of Accreditation of Health care Organizations, whose standards exceed
federal and State requirements.
In addition to providing excellent long-term care, we are also proud to offer
a specialized unit that is dedicated to the care and security of individuals
with memory loss. For those who are terminally ill, we provide compassionate
end-of-life and hospice care in a dignified, tranquil setting that is not only
sensitive to the patient's needs, but to his or her family's.

Adult Day Program at Waverny Care Center
The Adult Day Program at Waveny Care Center is dedicated to improving the quality of life for older adults who are still living at home, but who may require personal assistance and medical monitoring throughout the day and/or more social interaction.
We welcome participants from the surrounding communities who would benefit from the personal care, high-quality professional services and engaging activities we provide in a secure and unique setting.
Given Waveny's 30+ years of experience in senior care, we have a wealth of knowledge about the numerous community resources available for older adults and would be delighted to facilitate your access to them. We strive to help individuals stay in their homes for as long as possible.

What Makes Waveny Unique?
We offer a daily variety of program choices to accommodate a wide range of physical and cognitive functioning levels. Exercise classes, memory enhancement programs and other activities are grouped according to three levels of performance and interest so each participant can succeed while having fun and maximizing the benefits to his or her health.
Our Adult Day participants benefit from the immediate access they have to Waveny's comprehensive network of professional experts and healthcare services. While they are attending the program, we can arrange for on-site rehabilitative therapy, geriatric evaluation, nutritional counseling, bathing, hairdressing and other services-all under the same roof.
Our medical professionals can evaluate and assist in monitoring most health issues, and facilitate access to services and programs within Waveny's continuum of care, if desired.
"Main Street" at The Village
Unlike any other adult day program, our participants enjoy a special camaraderie with the residents from our assisted living facility. Each day, there are choices for all to share in recreational, physical and cultural activities on “Main Street” at The Village, our award-winning building that provides therapeutic benefits and replicates a quaint New England town.
In this secure and cheerful environment, participants are free to explore the general store, visit the ice cream parlor, relax near the exotic fish tank, take a walk in one of the gardens, or chat with a friend on one of the many park benches. Participants also enjoy numerous cultural and entertainment programs on Main Street.
The Adult Day Program at Waveny Care Center is a medical model program that is certified by the Connecticut Association of Adult Day Centers (CAADC). This means it has met or exceeded all of the demanding standards and State association criteria established to receive third-party funding. Certified and licensed staff-which include a licensed nurse, social worker, therapeutic recreation therapists and professional caregivers-manage the program.
The Village Assisted Living Facility-Respite Stays
If you are the primary caregiver for a senior family member or friend who has Alzheimer's disease or some other form of memory loss, we invite you to take advantage of the respite services we provide at The Village at Waveny Care Center.
The Village at Waveny Care Center welcomes short-term guests for a long weekend or visits lasting for a month or more. You can trust your relative's care to us when he or she is not spending time with you. We are professional experts dedicated to caring for older adults with memory loss.
In addition to our highly qualified and compassionate staff, our award-winning assisted living facility is beautiful, safe and uniquely designed to provide therapeutic benefits for people with memory loss. Your loved one will feel secure and comfortable at The Village while having a great time.
Respite stays are also a wonderful way to "sample" assisted living and to smoothly transition to long-term residency, if desired.

For families who need short-term assistance from their full-time caregiving responsibilities, our respite program at the Care Center is available for stays lasting from one week to one month for older adults who have advanced memory loss or other chronic health conditions.
Our highly qualified staff understands that some individuals may only need assistance with activities of daily living, while others may require 24-hour monitoring and supervision. Let us give you peace of mind while you take some necessary time for yourself.
Reservations for the respite program must be made in advance and are scheduled pending bed availability. Payment for this service is by private pay, long-term care insurance or State funds.

Available throughout the year, respite stays at The Village often enhance the ability of an individual to remain in the community longer by promoting rest for the caregiver and providing assessment and treatment, as indicated, for the respite individual.
Our respite guests also benefit from the opportunities they have to interact with their peers. The increased level and diversity of activities often helps to improve their appetite, sleep patterns and to stabilize mood and behavior. When reunited, both the caregiver and senior are refreshed and re-energized.
