Thornton Oaks Dining The Thornton Oaks dining room receives rave reviews from residents and visitors alike. Entrees like heart-healthy Garlic-Lime Swordfish with Pineapple Salsa, Risotto Primavera and Rib Roast with Fresh Thyme-Mustard, all from a recent dinner menu, give a flavor of the daily fare. Director of dining services, Louis Lachance, is meticulous in his selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, locally grown whenever possible, and seafood from Maine waters. Baked goods are prepared by our own pastry chef. The kitchen is available to cater parties for residents and goodies are always abundant at community events. Theme meals, from lobster bakes to holiday dinners, keep the dining experience interesting. Lunchtime talks are as popular for the selection of speakers, authors, politicians, social leaders, as for the opportunity to linger over a meal.
Thornton Oaks Housekeeping & Maintenance: Retirement is no time to be doing housework. Matthew Terrace residents enjoy weekly housekeeping services as well as a maintenance staff to take care of all the heavy lifting. While homeowners are welcome to do their own landscaping and gardening, our grounds crew does the bulk of the planting, pruning, mulching and mowing. Our staff also services home appliances and maintains plumbing and heating systems. Leaves & Snow: Autumn foliage paints our community in the colors of the season, colors residents are free to enjoy while the maintenance team does all the raking. Maine winters can be lovely, especially when you don’t have to shovel. Our team takes care of that too. They’ll even clear your car of snow, if you don’t park in a carport or garage.
