Overview

Care Types: Independent Living, Assisted Living

The Stratford is like a slice of New York hotel living, with exotic floral arrangements in the luxurious lobby, a concierge to fulfill requests, a chauffeur who will take you to the theater and a chef who prepares delectable meals. Numerous staff members are available to help with life’s details. Should you go on vacation, the staff is there to water the plants, walk the dog and collect your mail. Each of these amenities is included with the purchase of any of the well-lit, spacious condominiums with views of Central Park directly across the street—Central Park of San Mateo, that is. The Stratford is located in the heart of the city with all the conveniences of banks, shops and services just blocks away. There are even guest suites to accommodate visiting friends or family. For those who require assistance, an assisted living wing is staffed with medical professionals who provide around-the-clock care. The long-term care program ensures residents’ medical security for life. The ground floor interior reflects serenity in the Asian décor and floral design, combined with inviting furniture and thick carpeting. Dining is a special event—using only fresh ingredients, the kitchen team starts from scratch every day making soup stocks and sauces for the meals. Special diets are easily accommodated. There is a greenhouse for those who garden, and some of the residents tend orchids. An enclosed pool and spa are set in a beautiful garden. A penthouse room, known as “Room with a View,” offers spectacular views, and is used for parties and other events. The kitchen is available to assist with party planning and menu ideas. A regular lecture series, also open to the public, provides intellectual stimulation. A variety of seminars and classes on anything from music and the arts, to investments and current events, is offered as well. An art studio allows space for creative arts and crafts. There are regular outings to the San Francisco Symphony or various art museums. For the fitness-minded, aquatic exercises and low-impact exercise are held in the heated pool. And, for the weary body, there is massage therapy.
