Nearly 30 years ago when Hank Fisher was building his first retirement community in Sacramento, he had a very personal reason for making it special. His Aunt Edith was moving in. He and his wife, Nancy, both knew Edith would expect every aspect of "her new home" to be first rate. So they paid close attention to the building, grounds, furnishings, services and amenities. The Chateau at Carmichael Park blends housing and services with resident care and supervision, while promoting participation, independence and self-direction. You may also want to try a little tenderness in our TLC Suites for short-term stays, where you're our guest as you rest and recover from an illness, surgery or while receiving medical treatments such as chemotherapy. Or, the Suites can be used temporarily by a senior while his or her family caregivers take a break, relax, pursue neglected activities or even go on a vacation.

The TLC Suites are stylishly appointed, private, assisted living apartments where a full range of services and amenities are available to our guests, including the following:

• Free evaluation and development of a personalized care plan in consultation with your physicians, discharge planners and other health providers
• Coordination of your move in
• Assistance with daily living activities such as medications management, dressing, bathing, using the restroom and walking
• Quality care and monitoring provided by a compassionate and capable staff who are available 24 hours each day
• Arrangement for provision of therapies or rehabilitation in the privacy of your Suite
• Availability of an emergency signaling system that is monitored day and night
• Preparation of meals, which are appropriate to your needs

At the Chateau at Carmichael Park, seniors with memory loss as a result of Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, heart attacks and other causes will find a life-enriching program in The Garden for memory care. In addition to the full-range of services and amenities available to all residents, those residing in The Garden memory care apartments can be assured of the following:

• Delayed egress at entrances and exits, which are also secured and alarmed
• An emergency call system that is monitored 24-hours each day
• An activities program designed to engage residents and give them opportunities to connect with others and maintain social skills
• Enriching individual and groups activities tailored to resident's preferences including exercise, nature walks, gardening, art, singing and music, classes and demonstrations, structured reminiscence, on-site entertainers and celebrations and off-site outings and excursions
• Educational seminars and facilitated family support groups as well as encouragement of family involvement in all aspects of community life
• Careful monitoring of resident's whereabouts and well-being
• A high staff-to-resident ratio to help ensure responsive care

The Garden memory care provided at the Chateau at River's Edge recognizes resident's strengths, allows them to maintain existing abilities and fills any gaps in life skills with appropriate assistance. We respect our resident's dignity and individuality. We also address their desire for a sense of belonging and provide them many opportunities for gratifying interactions with others.

The community now features The Club Carmichael Park, a day program for memory care. Seniors with Alzheimer's or other dementia can spend all or part of the day in a supervised and structured program centered on a wide variety of activities, but also including medications management, wellness monitoring and lunch and snacks. Programs are personalized, based on a careful evaluation of participant's abilities, needs and preferences.

Those participating in The Club Carmichael Park have increase intellectual stimulation and social interaction. Their self esteem and confidence may improve as they enjoy companionship and gain a sense of belonging. The specially designed activities can help them retain or improve memory as well as fine motor skills, hand to eye coordination and attention span. Increased physical activity and opportunities to express feelings help reduce agitation and challenging behaviors like wandering.

Family caregivers have added peace of mind knowing their spouse, parent or other loved one is supervised, engaged and productively occupied at The Club Carmichael Park while they take a break to go shopping, keep appointments, complete abandoned projects, continue working outside the home, visit friends or just relax. 

A typical day at The Club Carmichael Park includes the following:

Special activities such as holiday parties, seasonal celebrations and health promotion activities occur regularly; entertainment, outdoor activities and day trips also are frequently scheduled.
