Since 1980, Texhoma Christian Care Center has cared for older adults who have physical conditions that prevent them from living alone at home. The 367-bed home is a couple of miles away from Red River Hospital and other health care services. Residents staying here also have access to local shops, churches and restaurants.
A team of highly trained therapists makes Texhoma Christian Care Center a welcoming place for seniors to receive short-term rehabilitation treatments following a stroke, complicated surgery or a neurological disorder. Skilled nurses are available to assist residents in long-term care with daily living and medical needs. In another building of the center, caregivers provide specialized care for people suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. A puzzles and games room allows seniors to make new friends while playing board games and solving puzzles of all skill levels. During the mornings and afternoons, seniors can watch their favorite movies in the center’s big-screen theater. A soda shop, named Donna’s Place, serves pop, snacks and ice cream during many theater showings. Residents looking to relax can slip into the library to read a book or surf the internet in the computer room.
