Southwinds Senior Living Community is a 55+ active adult retirement complex, located in White Plains, MD. There will be four buildings each consisting of 100 apartments. The community is in a wooded rural setting but close to shopping, medical support and all the conveniences.

Southwinds Active Adult Community is a Gated 55+ active adult retirement complex, located in White Plains, MD. There are two buildings each consisting of 100 apartments. The community is in a wooded rural setting but close to shopping, medical support and all the conveniences. Phase One is complete and ready for occupancy.

Facilities & Services:

  • Acres of professionally landscaped, wooded grounds
  • Activities include weekly excursions. Group transportation provided to area shopping malls.
  • Arts and Crafts – A variety of arts and craft classes are offered.
  • Grand Chesapeake Community Room equipped with large-screen television and surround-sound. Ideal for morning exercises, monthly meetings, musical performances and guest speakers.
  • Beauty Salon/Barber Shop offering complete hair care services.
  • Billiards
  • Church Services every Sunday morning. Grace Chapel at Southwinds provides a weekly non-denominational service in the Grand Chesapeake.
  • Computer Suite complete with personal computers and monitors, e-mail and high-speed internet access.
  • Fitness Center fully equipped with stationary recumbent bike, an elliptical trainer, treadmill and light weights, and Cable TV to help the workout pass quickly.
  • Guest Suite comfortably appointed apartment for visiting family and friends.
  • Library offers a variety of reading material.
  • Wellness Center is available for appointments with the podiatrist or massage therapist.

Activities:
  • Bingo- Wednesday nights in the Grand Chesapeake Room offer bingo with prizes
    contributed by the players in attendance.
  • Bridge- Residents are welcome to play as new tables are added to accommodate all
    level of players.
  • Computer Use- The Computer Center is home to personal computers, monitors, printers, email and Internet access. Classes for beginners are staffed by resident volunteers.
  • Crafts- A varied list of craft classes are available.
  • Community Service- Residents accept the challenge to serve their neighbors in a variety of ways. Non-perishable food donations are on-going for Children’s Aid, as well other worthwhile projects.
  • Educational Seminars- Southwinds offers a variety of seminars on an on-going basis, classes such as preparation of wills, investment seminars, health education, etc.
  • Entertainment- Professional entertainers, singers, musicians and theatre presentations appear regularly.
  • Exercise- Daily low impact exercise is offered videotape. The Fitness Center is open daily
    with a variety of equipment.
  • Movies- Weekly movies of the residents’ choice are available weekly.
  • Museum/Monuments- Regular ventures throughout Washington, DC area for sightseeing
    or special exhibits are offered.     Support
  • Groups- Various support groups are being formed to enhance personal capabilities in
    dealing with specific challenges.
