This is what lifestyle with lifecare at Shell Point is all about.
Nearly 2,000 residents now enjoy all the advantages of Florida's largest
continuing care retirement community: a maintenance-free residence, a whole
world of amenities and recreation, and reassuring medical care on-site. Explore
the options below and discover why Money Magazine calls Shell Point the "creme
de la creme of retirement communities." (Sept. 2001)
Assisted Living
Shell Point's goal is to help residents realize the
highest possible degree of independence their health will allow. If an
independent living resident occasionally needs the help of others to maintain a
daily routine, Shell Point has the facilities that make it happen.
King's Crown, an assisted living facility located on The Island, offers
an ideal setting for those who need light assistance throughout the day. If
someone needs help getting up in the morning or getting dressed, King's Crown
staff is ready and willing. If the rigors of shopping are a bit too much, King's
Crown staff will help carry the burden. Medical needs? King's Crown residents
enjoy 24-hour nursing coverage. The Crown staff provides that extra personal
help to make the day that much easier.
The Arbor is a new assisted living facility located at The Woodlands.
Setting the highest standards of personal care and attentiveness, this
residential-style assisted living provides larger residences, all with
kitchenettes and screened-in lanais. The Arbor has its own self-contained
Medical Center, so doctor's appointments are incredibly convenient. The Arbor
has one main dining area, but each of the four floors also features a country
kitchen, which provide bites to eat throughout the day.
Memory Care
No one knows the challenges of living with Alzheimer's or
dementia like a spouse, family member, or caregiver. When a loved one encounters
the symptoms of these conditions, they experience the same journey every step
along the way.
That's why skilled nursing care can, at times, seem like letting go of your
loved one. But in fact, it is just the opposite. By placing them in an
environment where they are surrounded by people who understand - people who are
specially trained in how to care for them and love them unconditionally - you
are essentially expanding your family to include some of the best doctors,
nurses, and medical personnel in the state of Florida.
Shell Point's Memory Care Center (located at the Larsen Pavilion) dedicates an
entire floor of resources to these unique individuals. Therapeutic recreation
programs are tailored to strengthen both mind and body. Those with early-stage
memory loss reside in a separate area, so that they may enjoy the highest degree
of independence possible.
Healthcare is the core of Shell Point's product, with four full-time physicians
on staff. Neuropsychologist Dr. Tim VanSickle and his Behavioral Health staff
help treat depression and other psychological symptoms. Support groups, social
services, and a full-time chaplain assist Pavilion patients and families. Shell
Point is also working at the forefront of community groups making advances in
the field, such as Florida Gulf Coast University's Center for Positive Aging and
the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer's Resource Center.
More than anything, memory care is about unconditional love and caring. Talk
with any nurse or CNA at the Larsen Pavilion and you'll see that certain
something which sets Shell Point apart. A 200-member volunteer group, The
Pavilion Auxiliary, can always be seen in the halls - holding hands, delivering
mail, arranging flowers, or adding other special touches to the lives of the
people there.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, "A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."
Likewise, we believe that it's better to have a team of people on your side than
to try to go it alone.
Skilled Nursing
It's this kind of
personal attention and caring that makes the Larsen Pavilion one of Lee County's
finest skilled nursing facilities. Featuring 219 beds, the Larsen Pavilion is a
multi-specialty medical park specializing in
short-term rehabilitation,
long-term skilled nursing care,
Alzheimer's/memory care,
hospice care, radiology,
dentistry, podiatry, audiology, and more.
