Senior Cottages is affordable housing for seniors. At least one person in each unit must be 55 years of age or older. The rent is based on total household income.
All our apartments are in excellent condition. We are very new, opened in January of 2000. Each unit has a frost-free refrigerator, self-cleaning electric oven, automatic dishwasher, garbage disposal and double basin stainless steel kitchen sink. Each unit also has a ceiling fan in the living room, a coat closet, a linen closet, a washer/ dryer area, your own hot water-tank, individual A/C unit, a smoke detector in the hallway and each bedroom. The bedrooms all have a telephone jack and a cable connection. Outside doors are equipped with a dead-bolt lock. Small pets are welcome here.
We have seven cottages, each with 12-16 units, all at garden level. We offer shuffleboard, and croquet. Our residents have a potluck dinner once a month and play bingo or card games some evenings. At times we invite a speaker in.
The Apache Junction Senior Center sends a van every Thursday afternoon to take our residents shopping.
According to the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce, the elevation is 1,715 feet. The weather is sunny and warm. The summer months are hot! Population of Apache Junction is 34,000. In the winter months the population doubles.
